Dark Skies Festival Astro-Evening Sleepover 15th Feb 2020
7pm until late…. Saturday 15 February 2020.
Join us and renowned astronomer Richard Darn for a night on the moon in the company of glittering stars with a special Dark Sky Festival sleepover at Partridge Nest Pods.
The campfire will be lit and after a welcome hot chocolate on arrival, get yourself settled in your toasty warm camping pod then, after a hearty chilli supper* we will be taking you on a journey through the night sky using powerful telescopes, spying craters and mountains on the moon and even showing you how to take simple pictures with your mobile phone. Weather permitting we’ll also see Mars and Uranus and glimpse amazing and colourful double stars and clusters. Whatever the conditions, we’ll celebrate the skies with beginner friendly talks, take you on a virtual reality journey through the cosmos and handle space rocks four billions years old. Bring your own telescope if you like and binoculars are especially useful. Remember to wrap up warm and bring a torch – we strongly recommend ones with a red bulb/LED which are kinder on the eyes in dark conditions.
